IFPRI Blog: Event Post Natural Resources and Resilience

The IFPRI Blog discusses the use of experiential learning games as innovative tools for strengthening collective action in natural resource management. This discussion draws on a contributed session on experiential learning at the annual Conference of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) in Amherst, USA. Franziska Auch presented results from her fieldwork from Namibia in this session. She highlighted how game-based approaches can foster collaboration and deepen understanding of the challenges communities face in managing scarce resources sustainably and adapting to the consequences of climate change. The broader discussion on experiential learning, with case studies from three continents, underscored the value of participatory methods in both research and practice.
