What we do
We work on a range of crosscutting topics, such as inequality, fairness views, decision-making of individuals or policymakers, and (nearly) all aspects of economic development.
We use state-of-the-art quantitative methods, ranging from quasi-experimental and experimental methods, including field, lab, and survey experiments, to machine learning. We also specialize in uncovering new insights from unconventional data sources, especially geospatial data derived from contemporary satellites and historical sources.
Our research is regularly published in leading economic journals, such as the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Monetary Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, European Economic Review, Econometrics Journal, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Nature Sustainability, Journal of Conflict Resolution, ...
Lab Meeting
We meet regularly to discuss project management, workflow improvements, and new research methods, exchange research ideas, and present early-stage research.
Research Seminar
The weekly seminar brings together all economists from the University of Hohenheim and University of Stuttgart as well as external speakers to present and discuss cutting edge work.
Workshops
We will also plan to organize small workshops with a focus on our research topics.
